Entry requirements

Eligibility

UC offers a wide variety of programmes, from pathway courses that help students gain entry to university to research and doctorate programmes designed to help students navigate their studies all the way through to the highest-level research degrees.

Besides the general entry requirements set by the university, students will also have to meet any specific programme-based admission requirements, which vary with each programme.

Undergraduate programmes

There are specific entry requirements for gaining international qualifications. If students are unable to meet the minimum requirements listed, they may be eligible to access the programmes via pathway programmes by UC College. Other qualifications not listed here will also be considered on an individual case by case basis.

Postgraduate programmes

Admission and additional requirements vary largely with each of the many programmes and are elaborately outlined under each programme description.

What to submit

When applying to study at UC, international applicants should include the following supporting documents along with their application:

  • certified copies of all relevant academic transcripts and award certificates from all their complete or incomplete study.
  • evidence of English proficiency level.
  • evidence of work experience in the form of a current resume and statements of employment. This should be an official document from the employer outlining job title, responsibilities and duration of employment (if applicable).
  • subject or unit outlines from previous study (if seeking credit or advanced standing into their UC course).

If documents are not in English, certified translations in addition to copies of original documents are required.

English language requirements

All applicants wishing to study at UC must also meet the minimum English proficiency requirements for entry to their chosen programme.

University of Canberra Financial Aid/ Scholarships

  • There are various scholarships and loans available to international students as financial aid to enable them to finance their studies.
  • These scholarships are awarded by various Australian agencies and organizations to the students.
  • Applicants are needed to submit only one application which enables them to avail various scholarships for which they are eligible for.
  • Some scholarships for international students are as below:

University Of Canberra International High Achiever Scholarship Awarded to new commencing international students who are applying for admission to a Bachelor or Master degree coursework and have a GPA of 6 on a scale of 7 or grade higher than 80%. 20% of total tuition fee amount.
University Of Canberra International Alumni Scholarship Awarded to new commencing international students who have completed their Bachelor degree at the University of Canberra and applying for admission to a UC Master degree coursework. 10% of total tuition fee amount.

How to apply?

Application portal: Applicants can apply online through three options- direct application to the University, via an agent and through UAC international (after having certain qualifications)

Application Fee: There is no application fee for direct online application to University.

Document requirements:

  • Proof of English Proficiency: English tests; transcripts and award certificates; and/or a letter from the institution stating the language of instruction (course-specific)
  • Certified evidence of academic transcripts and award certificates.
