Tourism - Travel at Fanshawe College

The tourism and travel sector is one of the largest in the world and accounts for 319 million jobs across the globe. Even with so many self-service travel websites around, the industry is ever-changing and constantly on the rise, which means there is a need for knowledgeable travel and tourism professionals.

The Tourism - Travel program is a two-year diploma that focuses on travel consulting, sales and service, tariffs and ticketing, group tours, package holidays, accommodations, airline service and reservations. These tourism courses will also teach you world geography and the latest computer technology used in the industry.

You'll graduate this travel program with hands-on learning experience as well as skills in business and administration, analysis, customer relations, promotion, conflict resolution and more.

This tourism course will present job opportunities with tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, transportation companies, hotels, destination management companies, government tourism offices. You'll be prepared for jobs including:

• Travel advisor (agent);
• Airline check-in agent;
• Tour manager;
• Tourism guest services;
• Tour operator customer service representative;
• Flight attendant.

• Gain a quality education in the tourism and travel field from this ACTA endorsed program;

• Learn in the heart of downtown London, Ontario in a state-of-the-art facility and close to industry partners;
• Develop a strong connection with both faculty and peers in small classes of 30 to 35 students;
• Enjoy an international field study trip on a seven-night Caribbean cruise as well as local field trips and regular guest speakers from the industry;
• Gain valuable experience with a co-op work term consisting of 420 hours of paid employment;
• Complete an international group tour capstone project in your final semester that spans three courses and allows you to complete a business plan, marketing plan and presentation to launch the tour to classmates and peers;
• Apply to study abroad for a semester in Finland, Ireland or the Netherlands and expand your global outlook (optional);
• Take advantage of our pathways opportunities and complete a degree with one of our partner institutions including the Limerick Institute of Technology in Ireland (optional);
• Obtain TICO certification, if you choose to;
• Participate in student mentoring through the Baxter Student Ambassador Program – meet Rhonda, this year's student ambassador.
