The Master of Education in Educational Leadership is designed for professionals who want to become effective and innovative educational leaders. This two year program will build your leadership skills to grow your organization and advance your career. The Master of Education in Educational Leadership will prepare you with the critical thinking and leadership practice to confront emerging local and global trends in education.

The program is divided into two specializations: Educational Administration and Leadership in Learning. The Educational Administration stream is for administrators and educators in the K-12 system. The Leadership in Learning stream is for non-school-based educational leaders in public, private, and not-for-profit organizations. Whichever specialization you choose, the Master of Education in Educational Leadership will prepare you with the conceptual, practical, ethical, and social tools to anticipate and solve problems, manage conflict, engage stakeholders, and encourage growth.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership is a two year, online program. Participants are first introduced to seven core, foundational courses. Participants then have the opportunity to focus their studies in either Educational Administration or Leadership in Learning.

The Educational Administration stream focuses on courses designed to address the challenges and opportunities of administering in the K-12 system. The Leadership in Learning stream focuses more broadly on leading education initiatives in public, private, or not‐for‐profit institutions. Each stream culminates in a capstone project in which participants choose either a Major Academic Report or an Action Research Project. You will complete:

  • Seven (3 credit) core courses that are foundational studies spanning theory, practice, and methods
  • Three (3 credit) elective courses in the specialization of Educational Administration or Leadership in Learning
  • In your final year, you will choose your capstone project: Major Academic Report or Action Research Project.

CAREER OUTCOMES

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership prepares participants for a variety of leadership and administrative roles. Participants should consult their local provincial, state, or national regulatory agencies about specific requirements for certification as school administrators.
