Welcoming students from both the UK and overseas, this course will provide you with an excellent grounding in the UK’s four 'Pillars of Practice: clinical practice, facilitation of learning, leadership and evidence, research and development.

This full-time, 12-month course is based at the University of Dundee’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences, which is a research-active school. Not only do our staff utilise contemporary nursing research, our staff and our students are generating research findings which are shaping current and future healthcare for individuals, families and communities.

Through learning with nurses from other countries and other specialties, you will develop your awareness of different cultural approaches and ways of working. In addition, there will be some opportunities to undertake a workplace experience in an NHS, research or educational setting, enabling you to gain first-hand insights into how healthcare is provided in the UK

Careers

This course will develop your skills and expertise in all four areas of the four 'Pillars of Practice', ensuring you become a flexible thinker with highly-transferable skills, giving you opportunities in new areas of nursing, promotion and leadership.

This course will also enhance your career by exposing you to different cultures and the many different contexts of nursing around the world, further enhancing your nursing practice, knowledge, skills and values.

International students/nurses will also have the opportunity to seek nursing employment in the UK. To be able to do this, you will apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). The stages of the application include a Computer Based Test (CBT), an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and admission onto the NMC register.

Additionally, you will need to apply for a Tier 2 visa. You will receive support from the University of Dundee to help you with this process while you are on campus.
