This degree in economics is designed to provide you with a solid, competitive grounding in economics from a multitude of theoretical perspectives. You will be able to apply theory to analyse real-world economic, business and social problems. Using industry-standard statistical software, you'll gain data analysis skills that are vital for employment or postgraduate study.
Modules cover the core subjects of microeconomics, macroeconomics, economic history and quantitative methods but also a variety of specialist areas such as environmental economics, trading and finance.
Our graduates pursue careers in banking, finance, insurance and marketing and work in government enterprises.

Careers and placements
Will I have a work placement?
Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from the university.
Previous students have secured a placement year at Lloyds Banking Group, the NHS and BUPA.
How long is my placement?
Work placements are 9-12 months of full-time paid work. You take this between the second and third years of study.
What are the financial arrangements?
UK placement annual salaries range between £13,000-£18,000 pro rata. Some charity / voluntary work organisations offer travel costs and lunch expenses in lieu of a full salary.
What sort of careers do graduates pursue?
Our degree will prepare you to apply to many entry-level jobs in banking, finance, insurance, stock markets, sales and marketing, as well as in corporations such as consulting firms or government departments.
Employment opportunities for economists include; graduate management consultants, investment advisers, finance and investment analysts, financial administrators, investment bankers, merchant bankers, tax consultants, bank managers, and employment agency consultants.
Are internships available?
Internships are optional, and last for a minimum of six weeks. Gain a Certificate in Professional Practice and valuable employment experience before graduating.
