Careers and placements

Will I have a work placement?

Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from the university.

Previous students have secured a placement year at IBM, Northern Trust, BUPA and the NHS.

How long is my placement?

Work placements are 9-12 months of full-time paid work. You take this between the second and third years of study.

What are the financial arrangements?

UK placement annual salaries range between £13,000-£18,000 pro rata. Some charity / voluntary work organisations offer travel costs and lunch expenses in lieu of a full salary.

What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

Graduates in Economics with Banking can pursue a range of entry-level jobs in banking, finance, insurance, stock markets, sales and marketing. You can begin your career with government enterprises, public undertakings, investment firms, education, advertising, commercial management and research, business journals and newspapers.

Are internships available?
