Our degree in economics with banking will give you the essential skills and knowledge in global banking and finance that international businesses are looking for.
This economics with banking degree provides a solid grounding in economics from different theoretical perspectives. You will gain subject-specific knowledge on the working of banks, banking regulation, monetary policy, finance and investment, and explore how these operate in the real world. You will also learn to use statistical software to analyse data, giving you vital skills for employment or postgraduate study.
Modules cover essential aspects of economics and banking, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, economic history, quantitative methods, banking and Investment. You can also choose from a range of optional modules covering specialist subjects such as trading and managerial economics.

Careers and placements
Will I have a work placement?
Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from the university.
Previous students have secured a placement year at IBM, Northern Trust, BUPA and the NHS.
How long is my placement?
Work placements are 9-12 months of full-time paid work. You take this between the second and third years of study.
What are the financial arrangements?
UK placement annual salaries range between £13,000-£18,000 pro rata. Some charity / voluntary work organisations offer travel costs and lunch expenses in lieu of a full salary.
