Our law senior status degree is a two-year qualifying course designed for students who already have an undergraduate degree in another subject and a real interest in the law.

As well as teaching substantive law, this degree explores legal issues from a social, political, moral and economic perspective.

Much like our other LLB courses, this senior status course is geared towards employability, which is where our close links with law firms, barristers' chambers and financial institutions in London make a difference. Popular career options for graduates from our law senior status degree include roles within banks, local government, and other employers looking for good analytical and communication skills.

What you should know about this course

  •  The course offers an in-depth analysis of the law alongside your established 2:1 degree from another course
  •  You’ll gain knowledge of substantive law and develop transferable skills. Wherever possible, this degree places law in various contexts
  •  You will benefit from guest speakers and networking events with employers, professional bodies and alumni to help with future careers
  •  The School of Law has good links with a number of employers in London, including law firms, barristers' chambers and financial institutions, through its Law Advisory Forum
  •  You can apply to undertake pro bono work through various schemes run by the university.

Careers and placements

What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

This is a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD) as regulated by the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) under the Common Protocol Agreement.

Graduates may choose to go on to undertake the training required in order to qualify to practise as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales. They can also pursue careers in fields that require graduates with strong analytical and communication skills.

Greenwich LLB graduates have gone on to become solicitors, advocates and barristers, paralegal and legal assistants, compliance officers and underwriters. They have also pursued careers in teaching and the civil service, the financial sector and NGOs.

Do you provide employability services?

Employability activities take place all the time at Greenwich and students are encouraged to take part in as many opportunities as possible. The central Employability and Careers Service provides support for students preparing to apply for placements and graduate roles, such as CV clinics, mock interviews and employability skills workshops.

Each School also has its own Employability Officer who provides specific opportunities relevant to your own course. They work closely with professionals in industry to ensure you are well-prepared for the workplace and have already begun to build your professional network by the time you graduate.
