Do you want to know more about infectious diseases, which are responsible for a third of all deaths and are a major cause of death in infants and young children? This Medical Microbiology BSc will give you a thorough understanding of the range, type, structure and physiology of infectious organisms that cause disease in humans; including the major microbial diseases.
You will appreciate how such organisms infect the human body, promoting both health and disease, and how such infections are prevented, managed or cured. This course will allow you to study within a department that contains both research and clinical scientists involved in patient management. You will be taught by both, and introduced to the clinical environment.
At the University of Leicester, you can apply for this degree in Medical Microbiology or any of the three degrees listed below.
Whichever degree you choose, your first year will be the same, allowing you to transfer to a different degree stream. The modules taken in your second and final years will ensure you graduate in your chosen degree.

How to Apply?
The steps to be followed while applying for admission to the University of Leicester are as follows:
Application Fees: 25 GBP for applying through UCAS; Postgraduate application is free for almost all courses. Some postgraduate courses require an application fee.

Entry Requirements: The entry requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants must be fulfilled before applying:
- Undergraduate:
- Completed the standard XII by the ICSE/CBSE, or another recognized state exam board, with at least 75% overall or higher depending on the course.
- Undergraduate applicants with incomplete entry requirements can apply for an International Foundation Program which provides academic support to help applicants progress to his/her chosen undergraduate degree at the University.
- Postgraduate: A Bachelor's degree with a First class classification and an average of at least 60/75% (depending on the chosen course).
