This course is designed to help you develop your knowledge and understanding of issues relating to Special Educational Needs and Inclusions in a greater depth. If you are a practitioner working with children, young people and adults in any one of a range of contexts, this may be particularly useful. Some of the modules we offer do require that you are working in a practical setting. We can also offer tailored training packages for a variety of settings.

Course Details

The MA in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion is made up of modules which help you to critically reflect on debates relating to inclusive practice in a variety of settings and contexts. You will be able to choose from a selection of optional modules so you can study what interests you most.

All of the modules are equivalent to 30 Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS) points, apart from the Dissertation which is 60 CATS points and is compulsory if you are studying for the MA. This module includes taught aspects of research methods as well as an independent piece of research.

Methods of Learning

We take an active blended learning approach to this course, providing you with the opportunity to learn in face-to-face and online settings. Your modules will be taught through lectures, seminars, group work, case studies, tutorials and independent study, over three terms.

Schedule

For this course, taught study is usually three hours per week, per module. Teaching on-campus tends to be in the evenings (5 – 8pm). We also recommend that you spend 10 hours per week, per module in self-directed study time.

Students studying in India or Thailand will have block classes for 4-5 days with additional online support.

The PG Certificate involves two 30 credits modules and takes one year full-time or between one and two years part-time.

The PG Diploma involves four 30 credits modules and takes one year full-time or between two and three years part-time.

The MA will entail completing four 30 credits modules and a dissertation and takes one year full-time or between two and four years part-time.

Full-time students can start in September only. Part-time students have the choice of starting in September, January or April.

Assessments

Our assessment procedures are flexible and work around your personal interests and professional workloads. Assessment is usually in the form of essays, case studies, portfolios, reports and research projects.

Basic Admission Requirements

  1. Certified transcripts of high school/college/university
  2. One reference required
  3. Statement of Purpose depicting the interest of the applicant in the chosen course
  4. MBA applicants must also have a proof of work experience
  5. Arts and design applicant must also submit their portfolio 

The outcomes of the English proficiency tests taken by all of the international applicants. IELTS, TOEFL iBT, and Pearson PTE are acceptable tests. The minimal IELTS scores needed to get admitted are as follows:
