Construction is a dynamic and exciting industry which depends on the transmission and management of accurate, relevant and timely information.  Good data underpins effective decision making, and good decisions are key to the success of construction companies in a globally competitive market.  Recognising this, and building on our ground-breaking digital built environment postgraduate programme, we’ve introduced the world's first Digital Construction degree programme .

Placing digital construction at its heart, this unique undergraduate course blends traditional construction knowledge with data management, data modelling, digital tools, systems thinking, systems development and critical awareness, so you develop a tool kit ready to meet the challenges facing the construction industry today.

Using project-based learning and collaborative exercises, you’ll learn about the significance of data management at all stages of the construction lifecycle; from financial data and project visualisation at the initial planning phase to works in progress, and off-site production and latterly using data to provide a safe, effective and efficient long-term asset. Emphasis is placed on developing key attributes for your future employment including adaptability, flexibility and critical thinking, all mediated within the context of digital technology, and the application and use of data.

Salford is a great choice for studying construction. We’re consistently ranked in the world top 100 universities for architecture and built environment study (QS 2019), located at the heart of one of the largest property and construction market outside of London. With our industry-focused learning approach, you’ll visit local projects and receive live briefs that enhance your real-world knowledge.
