The BSc Pharmacy Science & Health course at UWS explores the role of pharmacology in health promotion and illness management to prepare you for a rewarding career in the pharmaceuticals sector.
Science-led development of new treatments and drugs that respond to public health needs is a multi-billion pound international industry that needs talented individuals to help develop the next generation of medicines.
Course modules will adopt a health improvement philosophy, offering health promotion and illness management alongside a fundamental understanding of the basic science of pharmacy.
Course graduates will have employment opportunities with organisations in pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors in Scotland and around the world, in roles including health advice/ consultancy, sales and marketing, pharmacy support and clinical research trials on new drugs.
COURSE DETAILS
Our BSc (Hons) Pharmacy Science and Health has been designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to become a specialist in the use of pharmaceuticals in health care, eg pharmacology and drug development, research, testing and sales.
The course provides underpinning knowledge of biology, chemistry and pharmacology, as well as the inter-relationship of prescribed drugs on individual and public health.
Laboratory work makes up a significant element of this course. You will develop skills in chemical analysis, materials characterisation, drug synthesis, microbiology, biochemistry and biomedical sciences that will help you to secure a professional role upon graduation.

Please note: the BSc (Hons) Pharmacy Science & Health course does not lead to the Masters in Pharmacy (MPharm) and therefore does not allow graduates to register as a pharmacist.
