Caltech, also referred to as the California Institute of Technology, is a private research institution in Pasadena, California. The founding of Throop University in 1891 served as the impetus for the creation of California Institute of Technology. Six faculty members and 31 students launched Throop University. Amos Throop, George Ellery Hale, Arthur A. Noyes, and Robert A. Millikan worked together to rename the institution as California Institute of Technology. With 6 Breakthrough Prize winners, 9 Crafoord Laureates, 1 Fields Medal winner, 11 Kavli Prize winners, 42 MacArthur Fellows, 64 National Medal of Science winners, 13 National Medal of Technology and Innovation winners, 46 Nobel Laureates, and 17 Wolf Prize winners, California Institute of Technology has come a long way to become a leading research institution.

The 124-acre campus of the California Institute of Technology offers opportunities for collaboration between academics, students, employees, and faculty in research and instruction. More than 150 student clubs and sports organisations are represented on campus, along with varsity sports, indoor athletics, performing and visual arts, handy and appealing housing, and many other amenities. There are 30 graduate programmes and 28 undergraduate majors offered at the California Institute of Technology. International applicants are accepted by the university provided that they have met California Institute of Technology admissions eligibility requirements, provided official academic documents, and met deadlines.
