About Sonoma State University

In order to become a component of the California State College System, Sonoma State College was established in 1960. In 1961, 250 students were enrolled in the first batch. In 1978, it changed into a university. It launched its initial four-year curriculum in 1962. The trustees' board opted to add 48 acres to Copeland Creek in 2001. 269 acres are occupied by the campus. It is listed as the 34th most attractive college in the Nation. The institution comprises six schools with 65 departments of study. The institutions include the School of Extended and International Education, School of Social Sciences, School of Business and Economics, School of Education, School of Science and Technology, and School of Business and Economics.

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges has granted accreditation to the university. The Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges includes it as a member. Due to its proximity to vineyards, the institution provides a special curriculum in wine business in addition to traditional viticulture studies. The American Chemical Society, National League for Nursing, National Association for Schools of Art and Design, Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs, Commission on Teacher Credentialing-accredited School of Education programmes, and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education all award individual programme accreditation.
