About Texas Tech University

Texas Tech Institution (TTU), a public research university in Lubbock City, Texas, was founded in 1923. The organisation is a member of the Universities Research Association and the Texas Tech University System. The college, which was first called as the Texas Technological College, had six buildings and a total of 914 students at the time. Prior to adding disciplines like business, science, medicine, law, and social science to its curriculum in 1960, it only offered technical programmes in its early years. TTU received its current name as a university in 1969. The Carnegie Foundation has ranked TTU as having the highest level of research activity among institutions.

TTU has a stunning main campus in Lubbock that spans an area of 1,839 acres. The law and medical schools' facilities are located on the main campus. The property is home to 71 research centres and institutions, including the Influenza Research Center and the National Wind Research Institute, two well-known research centres. The 27.5-acre National Ranching Heritage Center, located in the northern part of the property, is home to 38 historic buildings that have been restored to their original condition. On campus, the institution maintains a number of libraries, each of which contains a sizable collection of printed and electronic sources relating to a range of topics. The 278,000 square foot Turf Complex, which was inaugurated in 2015, is home to four flag football grounds, two full-size soccer fields, and two lacrosse fields. Additionally, the building features a picnic space and a number of bathrooms. The university's campus is home to 13 residence halls, five suites, and apartment-style accommodation options. An open pool, a health centre, a bike store, a counselling centre, a climbing wall, and a number of food options are among the additional campus amenities. In addition, TTU provides a number of services to safeguard the safety of the students on campus. TTU has ten academic colleges and two schools offering over 150 undergraduate and 100 postgraduate programmes in different disciplines of arts and sciences, natural resources, architecture, agricultural sciences, business, human science, medicine, media and communication, law, social science, engineering and education. In research fields like epidemiology, grid computing, pulsed power, wind energy, and nanophotonics, students can pursue PhD degrees. According to Fall 2019 enrollment figures, 38,803 students from 46 different U.S. states and other locations are now enrolled at TTU. Its faculty roster includes 1,600 full-time employees and 188 part-time employees.
