About The University of New Orleans

The University of New Orleans (UNO) was founded in 1956 as a public research university. It is a component of and participant in the University of Louisiana System. Additionally, it belongs to the Urban 13 association. There are currently four colleges at UNO, including the College of Liberal Arts, College of Sciences, College of Business Administration, Education, and Human Development. It offers undergraduate and graduate programmes, as well as general education, professional and continuing education, online degree programmes, and service-learning.

Business Administration, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Education and Human Development, Sciences, Arts, Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism, School of Naval Architecture, and Interdisciplinary Studies are the primary academic departments. Scholarships, grants, and educational loans are available to students at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Additionally, the Student Employment facility is available. There are the TEACH Grant, Louisiana Go Grant, New Orleans Scholars Program, PELL, and SEOG Grants. There are scholarship opportunities for domestic first-year students, international first-year students, veteran, active, military, and military spouses/children, as well as domestic transfer students. In addition to its advanced academic infrastructure and conducive learning environment, the university monitors its students' overall development. In response to the diversity of student interests, there are over 125 active student clubs and organisations.

There are special campus health services, testing services, career services, Greek Life, disability services, recreation, and intramural sports. The UNO REC Centre merits special mention. UNO has 14 varsity sports teams that compete in NCAA Division I. Baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, track, and field comprise the men's sports (both indoor and outdoor). Basketball, beach volleyball, cross country, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field, and volleyball are among the women's sports. The sport of football is a non-varsity sport.

The University of New Orleans Department structure

UNO has nine schools and colleges that offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate programmes:

College of Business Administration

Computer labs, a commercial kitchen, and a demonstration lab are among the state-of-the-art resources available through programmes and research centres. Accounting, business management, and healthcare management are among the programmes available.

College of Engineering

Civil and environmental engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, naval architecture and marine engineering are all covered by this college.

College of Liberal Arts, Education and Human Development

Arts, humanities, social sciences, teacher education, special education, educational leadership, counselling, and political science are among the subjects she teaches. Students participate in research, internships, and job placements.

College of Sciences

Students participate in research with academics and industry professionals, which is heavily supervised by faculty and divided into seven departments. Biological sciences, computer science, chemistry, and mathematics are among the subjects covered.

School of the Arts

Arts administration, film, music, theatre, and visual arts are the five fields covered. It supports the sharing of resources and training across disciplines through traditional and innovative teaching.

Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism

This is the only graduate programme of its kind in Louisiana. Students take specialised classes, attend events, and complete job placements while focusing on the foundations of hospitality.

School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering

Shipbuilding and offshore structures are among the skills taught to students. A 40-meter towing tank, a maritime engineering lab, and a design lab are among the facilities available.

Interdisciplinary Studies

Combines and connects many disciplines. Students compare and contrast several subjects in order to enhance their knowledge and make connections.

Graduate School

Graduate research and professional opportunities are available through a variety of programmes, including certificates, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees.
