University of Bridgeport English Language Requirment

You must demonstrate English language proficiency in one of the ways listed below. Minimum requirements are shown.

If you can't show that you can speak English in one of these ways before you register, you will have to take the University English Language Assessment Battery (ELAB) test when you get there. If you do well enough on the ELAB, you might be able to start going to school.

Visa-seeking international applicants with secondary or post-secondary degrees from the United States and/or these select countries are exempt from providing proof of English proficiency with their application package. At the University of Bridgeport, new students who don't have proof of English language skills take the ELAB test.

The ELAB is given several times before the fall and spring semesters start, and students who want to transfer from other schools into academic programmes at the University of Bridgeport can also take it at other times if they ask.

The ELAB is not the same as the ELI Placement Test. The ELI Placement Test is given to students at the University of Bridgeport who want to start their studies in the English Language Institute.
