University of North Alabama English Language Requirment

The University of North Alabama (UNA) requires all non-native English speaking applicants to demonstrate their English proficiency by submitting scores from one of the following tests:

1. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): A minimum score of 61 on the internet-based TOEFL or a minimum score of 500 on the paper-based TOEFL is required for admission.
2. IELTS (International English Language Testing System): A minimum score of 5.5 is required for admission.
3. PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic): A minimum score of 44 is required for admission.
4. Duolingo English Test: A minimum score of 90 is required for admission.

In addition to these standardized tests, UNA also accepts English proficiency certificates from other accredited institutions or universities. Applicants who have completed a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction may also be exempt from submitting an English proficiency test score.

It is important to note that some academic programs or departments within UNA may have higher English proficiency requirements, so it is recommended that applicants check with their respective program or department for specific requirements.

UNA also offers an intensive English language program for non-native speakers who need to improve their English proficiency before starting their academic program. The program, called the English Language Institute, provides classes in English language instruction, cultural orientation, and academic skills development.
