University of South Alabama English Language Requirment

The University of South Alabama requires international applicants, whose first language is not English, to demonstrate proficiency in English by submitting scores from one of the following standardized English language proficiency tests:

• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - a minimum score of 61 on the internet-based test (iBT) or 500 on the paper-based test (PBT) is required.
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - a minimum overall band score of 5.5 is required.
• Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) - a minimum score of 44 is required.
• Duolingo English Test - a minimum score of 95 is required.

Please note that some programs may have higher English language proficiency requirements than the minimums listed above, so it is important to check the specific requirements for your desired program. Additionally, some students may be exempt from this requirement if they have earned a degree from an accredited institution in a country where English is the official language of instruction.
