University of Washington Scholarships/Financial Aid

Grants, fellowships, student employment, and scholarships for overseas students studying in the United States are among the financial aid options offered to international students at the university. Approximately 61 percent of undergraduates at the institute get some form of financial assistance. In the 2018/2019 academic year, 15 UW graduate and undergraduate students were awarded Fulbright grants.

The following are some of the studentships that are offered to candidates:

  • Mary Gates Endowment Honors scholarship: This award encourages university freshman to fully participate in their studies as well as other personally beneficial activities. The Honors Program application process identifies and selects successful applicants. This grant covers two years of tuition and books for students.
  • Anita Borg Change Agent Abie Award: This award is granted to university international women who have developed or increased technological opportunities for women in their field. Seven of these honours are granted to women in various categories, regardless of their socioeconomic status or age. Awardees who have demonstrated leadership and development attributes are nominated anonymously. In addition to various incentives, the amount of cash rewards varies.
  • Chester Fritz Fellowship: This scholarship is available to fund research and/or study periods of one quarter abroad during the 2020-2021 academic session, with a monthly stipend of 2,500 USD. Being a master's or doctoral student in a non-fee based programme who has never received the prize previously qualifies you. The application is made through MyGrad Program's Awards portal at the institute.
