Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at Azusa Pacific University

n a world where everything is becoming quantified, there is an increasing need for professionals who can use mathematical reasoning to make wise decisions regarding complex phenomena. APU’s math major equips students to solve problems by balancing logically rigorous thinking with creative experimentation and conceptual insight in either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics program. Both degrees provide a solid foundation in the mathematics of continuous change (calculus and analysis), pattern and symmetry (linear and abstract algebra), space (geometry and topology), chance and risk (probability), and data (statistics). While the mathematics major does treat applications of mathematics and includes courses in physics and computer science, the emphasis is on theory. Students who prefer a focus on mathematical modeling and computation are encouraged to choose the applied mathematics major.
