DePaul University English langauge Requirments

If you are a non-native English speaker who has not earned a bachelor's or master's degree in the United States, you must submit the results of a recognised English proficiency exam. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business accepts TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, and PTE scores. The admissions committee scrutinises the results of English proficiency examinations.

Direct admission requires a TOEFL score of 80 (ibt) with all section scores of 17 or higher, or an IELTS score of 6.5, or a Duolingo English Test score of 115 or higher, or a Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 53. You may be considered for conditional admission if your English proficiency scores fall below the minimum requirements. Scores are valid for two years and are only considered official when received directly from the testing provider.

The English proficiency requirement is waived for students whose undergraduate and/or secondary education (for all years of secondary/high school) took place in one of the countries listed below. Students who were born in one of these countries but received their secondary education elsewhere are required to meet the English proficiency requirement.

You may apply for admission to the combined Kellstadt Graduate School of Business/English Language Academy (KGSB/ELA) Program if you have a strong academic record overall but are unable to demonstrate the required English proficiency. Such applicants admitted to the KGSB/ELA Program will begin their language improvement studies at the English Language Academy (ELA) while conditionally admitted to the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business (KGSB). Prior to enrolling in Kellstadt courses, all such students must earn the University Bridge Certificate from the English Language Arts department.
