Rowan institution is a public research institution that was founded in 1923. This institution was able to launch with the opening of Glassboro Normal School, today known as Bunce Hall. In the 1950s, Jerohn Savitz, M.D. expanded its curriculum, increased enrollment, and constructed a number of buildings to its campus. This university has multiple locations, including its campuses in Glassboro, Camden, and Stratford. The Geospatial Research Lab, Child Abuse Research Education and Service, Centre for Behaviour Analysis, New Jersey Institute for Successful Ageing, CAVE Virtual Reality Lab, NeuroMusculoskeletal Institute, and Centre for Research and Education in Advanced Transportation Engineering Systems are just a few of the research facilities that call it home. Over 19,600 students are enrolled at the university at the moment, including 16,011 undergraduates, 2,417 graduates, and 1,190 professional/medical students.

Among the three libraries that this university offers are the Keith & Shirley Campbell Library, the RowanSOM Health Sciences Library, and the CMSRU Library. The online library's subscription service provides access to more than 55,000 online journals, and its website always has hundreds of other e-resources available. Located on 200 acres in Glassboro, New Jersey, this university's housing options include six residence halls and six apartment buildings.
