About University of Missouri

The public, land-grant University of Missouri (MU) is a research institution. It was founded in 1839 to serve as the first public university of higher learning. It is one of the 34 public universities that are members of the Association of American Universities and serves as the flagship site for the University of Missouri System. The university's research centre is considered as the planet's most potent research reactor. The University of Missouri Health Care system, which operates 4 hospitals in Mid-Missouri, is also managed by this organisation. The university was placed 73rd nationally and 190th globally in the 2018–19 CWUR World Universities Rankings.

The university's 1,262-acre campus is situated in Columbia, Missouri, and is kept up as a verdant botanical garden in the heart of the city. Red Campus and White Campus are the two primary groupings into which the university's academic buildings fall. Red Site, the original campus, is where Switzler Hall and Jesse Hall are located. The new, Neo-Gothic-style edifice is called White Campus. North of the sports complex is the main campus of the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics. The University of Missouri Hospital and the Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital are located there. The American Universities' Association is a member of the University of Missouri. It has even received the distinction of "Doctoral/Research Extensive" university from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. There are about 300 majors offered, and it is divided into 7 colleges and 11 schools. It runs at least two additional off-campus locations in addition to its 23 on-campus living halls. It also features one of the largest and oldest Greek systems in the country. The percentage of students who are Greek makes up about 22% of the student body at the university. In fact, MU is the biggest institution in the state, enrolling almost 30, 870 students in 2017 and offering 300 degree programmes. The institution employs full-time professors who have earned the top degrees in their respective fields.
